Mason Communication Tower

Inland Cellular proposes to lease a 40‐x‐60‐foot area in a host parcel near Walla Walla to construct a 120‐foot communication tower with associated equipment. The project area covers less than 1.0 acre, and Plateau was retained to identify, document, and evaluate historic properties and assess the potential effects the tower’s construction could have on properties eligible or listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP).

The area of potential effect for visual effects is based on the standards set forth in the March 7, 2005 Nationwide Programmatic Agreement (NPA), Section VI.C.4.a, and for this project is a 0.5‐mile (mi) (0.8‐kilometer [km]) radius from the proposed tower. These goals were pursued through review of maps, site records, and survey records on file at the Washington State Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation in Olympia, Washington.

Additionally, an intensive ground survey and windshield survey of the Project Area was conducted.  No cultural material was observed during the pedestrian survey for the proposed 1401E‐Mason Communication Tower Project Area, and no NRHP properties are located within 0.5 mi (0.8 km) of the direct or visual area of potential effect of the proposed communication tower. The project will result in No Historic Properties Effected.

Location: Walla Walla County, Washington
