The Rural Arterial Program funded the realignment of a portion of Bussell Road in Walla Walla. The road was present as early as 1868, and generally still follows the original route. Plateau Archaeological conducted a cultural resources survey to identify cultural resources, and no previously recorded cultural materials were present in the project area.
Plateau Archaeologists conducted pedestrian survey along the centerline and right-of-way of the road, and excavated 22 shovel probes in areas where there will be significant deviation from the existing rout. The archaeologists did not identify any cultural materials.
