Ione Wastewater Treatment Facility Project

The Town of Ione is upgrading its wastewater treatment lagoons to meet current outfall requirements and to address other problems which may have developed since the facility was built.  The area of potential effect covers approximately 20 acres.  The work will be done under the requirements of the Washington State Department of Ecology.  There is a potential that both federal funds [Community Development Block Grant (CDBG)] and state funds [Public Works Trust Fund (PWTF)] will be used for this project.  Since this project may be partly funded by federal money, the managing agency must meet the requirements of the Section 106 of the NEPA, and consider the potential impacts to historic properties prior to project execution.  If no federal funds, but Washington State capital funds are used, the managing agency must meet the requirements of the Executive Order 05-05 and consider the potential impacts to historic properties prior to project execution.

No Native American or historic cultural resources were located during the pedestrian survey.  No further archaeological investigations are recommended prior to, or during, execution of the proposed undertaking.

Location: Pend Oreille County, Washington
