Bruner Water Pipeline, Idaho County, Idaho

The Idaho Soil and Water Conservation District is providing financial assistance to a landowner to facilitate the installation of 200 feet (61 meters) of pipeline on his property. The project covers approximately 0.5 acres, and the pipeline will be installed from an existing water spigot and will be placed within an existing road ditch. A cultural resource survey is necessary prior to ground disturbing activities to determine if archaeological materials are located within the Area of Potential Effect (APE) in order to be in compliance with Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA).

Plateau performed a background review and conducted pedestrian survey and shovel probing of the APE. No previously recorded cultural resources were identified during a search by the Idaho State Historic Preservation Office or by the Nez Perce Tribal Historic Preservation Office. Field procedures to identify the presence or absence of prehistoric and historic cultural deposits located within the direct APE and identify the vertical and horizontal extent of such deposits revealed no cultural materials. No additional cultural resource work is recommended, and the project will result in no historic properties affected.
