In 2006, Plateau completed a cultural resource survey of approximately 24 acres at the Cle Elum Municipal Airport prior to proposed facility improvements. Improvements to the runway were necessary to meet Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards and included extending the runway, land acquisition, and improvements to the Runway Safety Area (RSA) and access routes. The work was authorized under the State Environmental Protection Act (SEPA), and the client used the cultural resource survey information for an environmental assessment (EA). With FAA involvement, this project was subject to Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966 (as amended) and its implementing regulations, 36CFR Part 800.
