Cowiche Mill Fire Rehabilitation Area

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) is proposing to implement a habitat restoration and erosion prevention project on portions of land subjected to the 2010 Cowiche Mill Fire.  The lands in the project area are either administered by the BLM or privately owned.  As this is a federally funded project, the potential impacts to historic properties must be considered prior to implementation, as per Section 106 of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA).

The survey resulted in the recordation of 10 new resources and re-visit of a previously recorded historic-era site.  New resources include two pre-contact isolates, two historic-era isolates, four pre-contact sites, and two historic-era sites.  No further work is recommended for the four isolates.  Plateau recommended a 5-10 year monitoring plan for all sites.
