Plateau Archaeological previously conducted a cultural resources survey for the Mill Creek Road Improvement Project, and as part of this road improvement, performed mitigation for a wetlands site in Walla Walla.
This road was in place by 1861 at the latest, and pre-field research revealed one previously recorded archaeological site within the project area, a pre-contact camp located on Mill Creek. However, this site was likely destroyed during the many flooding events along the creek.
Plateau Archaeologists surveyed four pedestrian transects and excavated three shovel probes with the project area. No new cultural resources were identified.
