Plateau Archaeological Investigations conducted the cultural resource survey for the proposed Town of Creston water reservoir. The reservoir will replace the town’s existing, undersized reservoir located at the south edge of town. The town anticipates a Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) award for the project. Since this project will be federally funded, the Town of Creston mush meet the requirements of Section 106 and consider the potential impacts to historic properties prior to project execution.
The background review of the proposed project area revealed no previously recorded cultural resources or surveys within the Town of Creston. According to the DAHP’s predictive model, the project areas lie in an area of moderately low risk for intersecting cultural resources. No Native American cultural materials or features were observed during the pedestrian survey and shovel probing of the Town of Creston Reservoir Project. The proposed undertaking will result in No Historic Properties Affected, and no further archaeological investigations are recommended prior to, or during, execution of this project.
