The Okanogan County Department of Public Works retained Plateau Archaeological Investigations, LLC to provide a cultural resource survey for the proposed Twisp River Road, Spokane Grade Section Project near Twisp. This project is partly funded by the County Rural Administration Board, Rural Arterial Program, and as such, must comply with Executive Order 05-05 and consider potential impacts to known and potential historic properties prior to implementation.
The cultural resource survey and minimal shovel probes provided no evidence of Native American or Euroamerican occupation within the boundaries of the project. Based on the information reviewed and the results of the fieldwork, Plateau determined that this project will not impact any known historic properties and that the project should proceed as planned without further archaeological investigations.
