The Columbia County Rural Electric Association (REA) will construct a four-mile long transmission line and a substation near Burbank. The project will cover a total of 51.1 acres, and fifty-five poles will be installed to construct the transmission line.
As support for the State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) checklist, Columbia REA chose to consider the potential impacts to historic properties prior to project execution, and retained Plateau to complete the cultural resource survey.
A review of previously recorded cultural resources and archaeological surveys was completed. The background research revealed that while cultural resources are present in the vicinity, no archaeological sites, historic property inventories, or other historic properties are located within the Project Area. Cultural resource survey and subsurface investigations of the Worden Substation and Worden Transmission Line Project resulted in no new cultural resources identified. The proposed undertaking resulted in No Historic Properties Affected, and no further archaeological investigations were recommended prior to, or during, execution of this project.
