Odessa Municipal Airport Improvements and Land Acquisition

In 2007, Plateau conducted a cultural resource survey of approximately 27.5 acres for the Town of Odessa, located in Lincoln County. The Town, owners of the Odessa Municipal Airport, had completed an Airport Layout Plan, summarizing features of the airport, both existing and proposed. This review brought to light certain deficiencies that did not conform to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) design standards and guidelines. Improvements included land acquisition, extending the runway, and improvements to the Runway Safety Area (RSA) and access routes. Prior to design implementation, the Town was required to address the environmental impacts of their project, achieved through an Environmental Assessment (EA). Involvement of the FAA required completion of the cultural resources through the Section 106 process.
