Waitsburg Tower Project

Plateau Archaeological Investigations conducted a cultural resource survey of a proposed Inland Cellular communication tower near Waitsburg, Washington.  The proposed tower is a 120-foot tall self-supporting communication tower adjacent to several existing towers.

The northern boundary of the Waitsburg Historic District, listed on the NRHP, falls within the outer visual APE.  This portion of the district housed Wait’s Mill, an integral part of the city’s founding, however, this structure was lost in a fire in 2009.  The main portion of the district lies 0.75 mi (1.25 km) south of the Project Area.  The construction of the proposed communication tower, in a location possessing two existing communication towers, will have No Adverse Effect to Historic Properties.

Location: Walla Walla County, Washington
